Was considering this 1939 Ota Chikahide.

New polish and has a couple openings but nothing fatal. Measures 25 9/16" from blade tip to notch in the blade spine.

Seller wants $2300 and seems firm on the price.

Fair price? Good deal? Walk away?

I noticed that too and was thinking the same thing that it is overpriced.

If it was more around $1500, I would likely consider it more.

It is a rather nice looking sword though.

Priced quite aggressively considering those flaws.

Certainly this swords last polish.

If interested in Ota Chikahide, his work isn't terribly rare, so it's best to hold off on this one and wait for a better example IMO.

Interesting, as there was recently another Ota Chikahide for sale (Aoi Japan) that also had large areas of loose hada just like this sword. I did not follow through to the end and do now know what the final auction/sale price was.

Best regards,

Ray
