Greetings all, this is my first time selling on the boards so please excuse any 'first-timer' mistakes. I'm heartbroken having to create this listing at all as this piece was a gift, but due to personal matters I'm in need of selling it. Foremost, I'd like to extend thanks to the members of this forum for providing more information on this wakizashi than was provided by the seller, the details of which are as follows:

Koto-era Wakizashi, purchased from an owner in Texas who obtained it in Japan. Certification states this piece is Hozon level, issued Heisei 19, August 21 (2007) and specific to the blade it says Late Seki and the length is 1.22 shaku (a shaku being 11.9303" or 30.3030 cm). It appears to be a typical blade of the period and a nice rig all things taken together.

Information from predecessor:

This KOTO WAKIZASHI was made at the school of MINO around 1570, in the latter period of the Muromachi times. The blade has a good, recent polish that shows the blade well. KOSHIRAE of this WAKIZASHI is old, but in good condition. There is a signature of the famous HAMANOHOZUI in FUCHI and it is in delicate work. FUCHI KASHIRA is a wonderful work of dragon's being made with TAKABURI. TSUBA is made with iron, a person and a pot are pictured and gold ZOUGAN is used. NBTHK-certified papers included.

    JIHADA:  KOITAME
    HAMON:  GUNOME CHOJI
    CUTTING EDGE:  37.1 cm
    SORI:  0.5 cm
    MOTOHABA:  2.8 cm
    MOTOKASANE:  0.5 cm
    SAKIHABA:  2.1 cm
    Signature:  MUMEI (SUESEKI)

Out of respect for the original owner, this piece was offered back however it is their wish that a new owner enjoy the piece as much as they have. They suggested I list the price for this piece at $5000, however I'm not certain of the 'sentimentality' attached to that figure. Nevertheless, I'll go ahead and list it at this price in hopes that this market will 'correct' the amount in case it is over-inflated. My apologies in advance for not having this piece appraised, and for not being an authority on the matter myself, but if you're interested or have any suggestions then please feel free to PM me.

I'm situated in the NYC area, and would be happy to meet and discuss at your leisure. Thanks!
