Here is mine katateuchi with Hon'ami Koson sayagaki. Is it possible to pinpoint this sword to exact generation of Masahiro? One of the guys, who saw the blade says it is most likely 6th generation, the one who later become Tsunahiro.

Cool sword. Always better if not upside down.

Isolating where the signature is is good.

Even signed: Masahiro, Hiromasa, etc, is going to be hard to pin down. Sometimes these things are treated almost like a school.

Nice example of later Soshu work though.

Sayagaki is trying to be Koson, but I don't think it's his kao. Compare it to these:

This doesn't mean it's not a nice blade, just that you have to look past the sayagaki.

Hi Jean,

Yes, he used 2 kao throughout his career - yours being the more common later one. You can find a lot of examples of that one.
The one discussed is his much rarer earlier kao.

I think you have time to send to Chris B. bit extra but worth not having to wait two more years

Did you ask them to comment on the sayagaki? The mei being confirmed puts it in good light.

No, it is no comments on sayagaki, but i had chance to compare it to another Hon'ami Koson tanto sayagaki dated 1931 and it is very similar. Since tanto also has Koson origami along with NBTHK TH papers, I think sayagaki is legit.
