Tea House Motif Tsuba For Sale With Pillowed Box

Dear NMB Members:

I am offering this tsuba for sale as part of my  New Years "thinning out" project. It is a classic Tea House and tea ceremony motif. I have seen this style listed as both Akasaka school and Shoami school on different websites. I will leave that determination to those more knowledgeable than I about tsubas. This is from part of a private collection that I purchased a few pieces from. This one was purchased by previous owner in 1982, so it has been off the market since then. It involves a lot of detailed carving work. It measures approximately 7.7 cm (3 inches) high by 7.1 cm wide (2-3/4 inches) wide.

There was one recently sold on Ebay without a box, but that one was a little smaller than this one. If you missed that one, here's a second chance.  The former owner apparently purchased it for $1,150 back in 1982, according to the sticker on the box. This one has some nice gold highlights. I got into it right because I purchased a number of pieces, and I have known the previous owner for 40 years, so he cut me a "friend" deal.

PRICE:  $390, plus shipping and insurance costs. Payment by cashier's check or money order. If you have any questions, please email me at besheehan@aol.com.

Best regards,
Bill E. Sheehan Yoshimichi)

Dear NMB Members:

With everyone probably still dealing with the left over holiday expenses, and to make acquiring some of these pieces almost painless,  we do offer the oft used "Yoshimichi 60 Day Time Payment Plan" available to NMB members. Here's how that works. A 25% non-refundable deposit to hold the piece (in this case, $97.50), with the balance due and payable, along with the shipping and insurance costs, within 60 days of receipt of the deposit. I will hold the piece until all of the purchase price is received, and I will email the buyer as I receive the various payment installments, so that the buyer has a record.  Just an option, if you see something you like.

Best regards,

Bill E. Sheehan
