A very happy super sale customer

Recommended Posts

Just to let all you experts know that I have just received a very nice tsuba from Fred Weissberg

http://www.nihonto.com/11.33.04sale.html

and I am very very pleased with it. If any of you know anything and I know that all of us (including me) know very much indeed then I would give his stuff a good look over and consider picking up a nice bargain.

He is a very nice guy too and very easy to deal with and from my experience his description of his items are spot on.

Just my two cents worth.

Dear Henry,

I thought that one was the best deal of the super sale. I pointed a friend at it that asked I recommend a good deal.

I then saw it on hold and wondered if he or someone else had gotten to it. It looks like you got it. Congrats. I like it.

I was fifth in line for the Kaneie so I gave that one up. Very nice but I was a bit concerned about the brownish area to the left on the front side.

As for the Jirohachi, well it is a gem. The patina is lovely and as a whole it is very nice and quite elegant as it is very thin. My intial reaction was it is a little small in circumference but I think this is part of it's elegance and I know it is soemthing that is sure to grow on me. Thanks for all the kind words.

http://www.esnips.com/doc/f2e3f4d5-9046 ... 3/Kaneiye6

it's part of the distant mountain scenery, slightly smoother and " higher " than the rest of the area, hence it reflect the light slightly different from Fred's pic.

continue on to page 2.

And a BIG thank you, Merci, Danke, Arigatto to the dude who tipped us off to Fred's Super sale ( that would be Ted )........all boils down to fast finger contest.

most likely all the super sales went to board members..........

Ah..the power of the forum and getting the word out to many people this fast :)

I assume the commission cheque is in the mail?

Those who got a good deal because of the original posting...another reason to buy those raffle tickets when they become available :)

Hi Henry -- yes, guilty as charged. I just received it and it's quite nice. There is residual lacquer on the surface which is nice to see as that is original and means it hasn't been messed with. My thinking is Momoyama or possibly late Muromachi due to the size (3") and thickness (3.5mm). As it is fitted with only a kozuka ana moves it to a later date also. Probably used on a smaller katana of that period.

Nifty! :D
