Marius
Huge tosho tsuba A magnificent, very very large and ubu tosho tsuba. Made of iron in mokko shape and fitted with a yamagane rope fukurin this tsuba has a truly imposing presence. The patina is a deep brown and there are remnants of black lacquer. The only decoration of this tsuba is a carved inscription that has been highlighted with red lacquer: Namu Myōhō Renge Kyō - "Glory to the Sutra of the Lotus of the Supreme Law", which is a mantra of the Nichiren sect. Length : 10.02 cm x 9.60 cm, 0.25 cm at seppa-dai and 0.47 at rim. Momoyama/early Edo period $1500 plus shipping and PayPal. Reasonable (short) payment plan possible. PS. I won't offer this one for long, as it is pretty unique. So, if you like it, you should not hesitate. You know, take tarts ... I have posted a picture with two "normal size" tsuba, one of which is actually also quite big at >8 cm. You can see how huge the tosho is in comparison. (The two other tsuba are not included, sorry)
