Getting an appraisal of an antique scroll in Japan

Hi all,

I was contacted by a lady in Japan asking for some assistance with information on where to get a possibly antique Japanese scroll looked at and appraised.

This is what she wrote:

I have a Japanese scroll that was given to me as a gift and its suppose to be around 100 years old but I am having trouble finding out where to take it to get it valued etc. Do you have any suggestions?

I live in Yokosuka but I can get to Tokyo or Yokohama areas if need be...my Japanese is very limited so yeah that could be a problem...maybe i could get someone that speaks Japanese to go with me or i can take my translator!!!! The hanging scroll has a picture on it of a samurai, in very simple style.

I anyone knows somewhere in Japan to take this and get an opinion, please post here and I will pass the info on. I can try and get a pic or 2 if anyone has any knowledge on these.

Thanks,

Brian

The man in the scroll is Shoki (鍾馗).

The mei looks Buko (武江) to me, though I am unsure about the name. But if it is Buko, he could be Kikuzawa Buko (菊沢武江). :?:
