Hi all,

My website is still a work in progress, but I am continuing to list additional swords and fittings for sale. Last night I posted two daisho tsuba and a few additional tsuba and kodogu. There are a further 20+ pieces I will be adding to the site over the next week from the collection I have agreed to consign. Apologies for any missing descriptions, dimensions or pricing. I will be filling in the gaps asap. Donations will be made for any pieces sold to NMB members.

Thank you Stephen. Photography is a challenge. Some of you list members really have your sword and kodogu photography down to an art form.

Hi Ray,

Nice website! 😀

Nearly agreed. I like the look, feel, and what you list is astounding. Just one problem - where's all the top-flight gendaito?!?

Joe, you must have missed the Takahashi Yoshimune (in Fujishiro Matsuo polish) that sold before the site relaunched. Working on getting some more great gendai on the site, stand by...

Ray

I will dig through my backups Stephen. Unfortunately it looks like this one did not have the photos automatically archived online. If I can locate some images on disk I will definitely send them your way...

On my first trip to Japan Tsuruta-san showed me this massive, beautiful Yoshimune that was a contest winning sword in the 1930s. It must have been 71cm with a wide mihaba. One of my all time favorite gendaito. Agree with Brian's comment, the Hiromasa is looking great.

Best,

Ray

Additional photos and information have been added to my Facebook page at the link below. I was unaware before, but the Kanetoki tanto was featured in John Slough's reference on Gendaito, with a full length oshigata.

Hello Ray,
You may like to know that the theme of your Goto tsuba is 'setsubun', which is a spring festival. The old man on the omote is throwing 'mame' or beans to ward off demons, which is represented on the ura with the kanji 'oni'. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Setsubun
