The person selling this sword swears it is of antique origin, being new to the art I would appreciate some versed eyes assistance. Can you please take a look at the following inscription and let me know if it is indeed worth $300.00? Thank you for your time!

I have tried image and hand translation to no avail. (For hours)

First impression Chinese attempted copy  from the 1950s or 60s but could be newer than that.

Hi Zoido,

 

This is definitely not a nihonto. There are a few signs but the most obvious one is that the quality of the steel is very poor. When you look at this blade, compare it to pictures of unquestionably real nihonto, either from this site or many others. The hada of a real sword never looks like that.
