Daniel,

Thank you for the lead. I am not familiar with the term "sumi-gomori" in the description of the blade. Apparently it is a type of flaw. The pictures show a number of white flecks on the blade that I first thought might be lint, but it may be pitting, spotting or sumi-gomori? I am continuing the study.
