  2. I just purchased a new sword that comes with two old white papers. one for the sword, other for the koshirae. Anyway, wanted to find out when the white paper for the sword was issued and person or agent it was summited by. Thank you so much.
  3. 摂州大坂住人 – Sesshu Osaka junin 梅忠壽寛作 – Umetada Jukan/Toshihiro? Saku
  4. Thought i would put this here as i know some folks collect bronze etc. Bought these Bronze temple lions many years ago, at least 15 years now. They have been sat in various positions over that time and never had any issues up until very recently. They are mass produced and were not expensive at the time, though i do like them. Anyways, for the last six years they have been in the conservatory, its not heated unless we are in there during the winter. They were fine and then they weren't , came as a surprise as never had issues. Last summer they were looking dusty so i hosed them down outside and let them dry, then Ren wax. That was the first time i had used wax since i bought them all those years ago. About four months ago i moved them, one ended up in full morning sun on one side, the other in the shade. Just happened to notice an issue last week. Check out the side that got the sun compared to its other side in the shade. Looked like white spots, now on closer inspection looks like green, Verdigris. The other statue which was in the shade has no Verdigris either. Now moved them back into the shade, will have to do something about the verdigris.
  5. Hi, Depends what 'good condition' stands for you. If you want perfect Hadori polish or Koshirae then 2k$ is enough for Wakizashi but not for Katana. I'm talking here about antiques. Again, all depends on condition. Also, with that budget I won't be aiming on prestigious smiths work. Can you be more precise on what Katana do you have in mind? History period, Koshirae, smith, polish? Maybe an example of Katana you saw and wish for?

  7. Found this guard in the British Museum - - the balls of some people! https://www.britishm...object/C_2003-0909-2 [an Irishman's idea of a tsuba]
  8. Thanks for that insight, my friend, stating "suggesting that some tsuba of this type at least were cast". Oh no! Here we go again! Just kidding!! With respect, Dan
  9. Hi jean, It's lighter and more silver in the hand than my pics show. Previous owner said it was shibuichi not shakudo.
  10. I found this signature on a museum site but the translation only says "Umetada" It looks to have a lot more to say than that? On a Yamagane or Sentoku guard? Any help would be great.
  11. On one Japanese site I visited there was a photo of some fragments of stone molds with this chrysanthemum design, suggesting that some tsuba of this type at least were cast.
  12. Recently I have been working with Ted Tenold (Legacy Arts) in offering high quality nihonto prints on canvas. Ted worked closely in partnership with Darcy, and some of the images will be recognizable as swords and fittings that were offered on Yuhindo in the past. Others are a swords that Ted and I worked together on more recently. Please see below for a list of prints that are presently available. The dimensions of these prints vary, and in the coming days I will update the gallery to include dimensions for each. https://swordsofjapa...supplies/art-prints/ Please note that the prices presently shown include US domestic shipping for a fully stretched canvas. I will calculate International shipment on a case-by-case basis, please reach out to me directly with any questions and I would be happy to discuss further. Best regards, Ray
  13. These Saotome threads always end up with a size discussion Did have one once, not so big as you guys (sounds well) Surprisingly heavy, got the impression ok for a battlefield,
  14. I have what appears to be a Kinai tsuba that was a family heirloom and was damaged in a fire caused by an earthquake. That's all I could really get out of Google translate. Would someone be kind enough to provide a line-by-line translation of the top and bottom of the lid? Top Bottom Tsuba Many thanks in advance Damon
  15. Hi Luc, thanks. Meanwhile I have some doubts about the reputation of the seller in question. PS: also messaged you on facebook as I was also referred to you by someone else.
  16. Is that "manhole cover" type tsuba hand forged or cast!! Ha, ha, ha, ha, etc. Just having some fun! With respect, Dan
  17. Even if that is a repetion, that is an NBTHK's matter, I think.
  18. Yves, this is indeed a certificate issued by the NKBKHK. The advantage here is that the judges names are on the certificate, so their reputation stand or fall with their judgement. Commercial parties can’t be a judge. You can find more info on our Japanese Armor Society website, the western branch of the NKBKHK: https://www.Japanese...orsociety.com/shinsa
  19. Playing with these giant tsuba might cause a real stink! Manhole covers
  20. Meanwhile someone strongly warned me against this seller.
  21. Hi Phil, can you please show photos of the mounts? You say it was surrendered on Borneo, is there supporting documents or a story about the circumstances of surrender?
  22. How long to make this? [from 2013]
  23. One of the artisans at Osafune looked at it for a while and then declared, "It would take me six months of hard work to make one of these!
  24. I did wonder what happened to the other three? I might be able to use my wife's hat box? Piers I like the fine nature of the spokes on yours, very elegant.
