hello,
it´s for some time that I am looking for one kabuto (edo period)from my colecction, but I do not have knowledge to make the certain decision ! some ago days I saw this kabuto in the net , this one is of periodo edo or posterior?
can any one help me with this?

hard to tell without peeking under the kabuto liner..........
but the miadate ( spelling ? ) of the deer antler design is modern.

yes the seller tell me that is a modern piece and tell me that can send me more pictures! he said that is from late edo but the kabuto look more recent,
and is in perfect state of conservation!

Hi Sergio,

The russet colour of the bowl and the shikoro look reasonable, but the lining, cord, tehen kanamoto (decoration around the hole at the top) and colour of the gold on the ridges all look fake to me.

I think you can probably do better than this. Have a look at the following website:

Trevor has some good kabuto at reasonable prices.

If you email Trevor and let him know what you're looking for, he will keep an eye out. I know that he has has been busy writing a book about Japanese armour and has not been keeping his website up to date.

He usually has some interesting stuff lying around.
